Max Hernandez, Director/Producer, “How to Lose a Girl in 3 Minutes” (Short Film)

“R Jay was an absolute delight to work with on a short comedy film I recently directed and produced. He handled all of the post-production needs, which included color correction/grading, sound mixing and of course editing the picture so it had proper pacing and flow. From the very beginning, he laid out a clear plan while still staying flexible and communicative every step of the way. His attention to detail is incredible and he’s truly an expert not just in video production, but in post-production as a whole.

I genuinely hope to work with R Jay on many more projects. He’s someone I’d want in my corner on any production moving forward, a collaborator I trust and also just genuinely enjoy having around as a person.“

“The entire process from initial consult to delivery was dynamic and adaptive. R Jay was able to take the punches as they came and made the best out of everything! Communication was exemplary and friendly yet professional. 10/10 recommendation and will be working with him again!”

Damian Wampler with R Jay Molina and the Cast and Crew of "Written in Skin"

Damian Wampler, Writer/Director, “Written in Skin” (Short Film)

“I was a first-time director of a short film with cinematography by R Jay Molina. R Jay was more than just a videographer - he was a collaborator, consultant, guide, and incredible visionary cinematographer. I had a clear vision of what I wanted to do. As a writer, I also created the storyboards, but as a first-time director, I had no idea how to make my vision a reality. R Jay was both a technical consultant and creative consultant, helping with both the logistical side of the shoot, like advising how many days we would need to shoot, to the visual aspects, creating a lighting space for what he knew I wanted. His technical guidance was spot-on. He correctly calculated the number of shoots, angles, time needed on set to make the project happen, and on set, ripe with ideas that would enhance the project. He took my storyboards and brought them to life. The final product looks so much like the storyboards, it’s amazing, but he also added an abundance of great ideas to the project as well.

His creativity was key to making the project happen - his suggestions on lighting, angles, and shots were all home runs in the final edits. I had a few specific unique requests - he accommodated them, even when a little strange. But he also led me to success by telling me what wouldn't work and why, giving guidance on shooting in certain outdoor areas, and gave me all the information I needed to get the project shot on a super-tight schedule.

Most importantly, he had excellent chemistry with the cast. The actors felt comfortable on set and performed for the camera. After the shoot, he color-graded quickly and had files ready to edit in a short time - a super rapid turnaround. He supported the project in all areas, helping me as first-time director and editor to edit the project, and gave advice on festivals and distribution. Overall, R Jay Molina was a team member and collaborator on this ambitious project and was essential to the overall completion of an amazing film. Hire R Jay!”
